Man Utd could sign Chelsea star Mason Mount as they consider him a Cheaper alternative to Bellingham

Erik ten Hag is looking for a new offensive midfielder to add to the team. Paul Pogba was eventually transferred to Juventus by Manchester United. Jesse Lingard has signed a contract with Nottingham Forest. Juan Mata to Galatasaray, and Andreas Pereira to Fulham last summer. Only Christian Eriksen from Brentford, and Marcel Sabitzer, on loan from Bayern Munich, have been brought in to replace them.
According to Jacob Steinberg of the Guardian, the situation regarding Mason Mount’s status at Chelsea is uncertain, and United are reportedly interested in signing him. The present 24-year-old player’s contract will run out in 2024, and he is looking for a new one that better reflects the contribution he makes to the squad.
According to Steinberg, Mount’s current weekly salary at Stamford Bridge is £75,000, but he has been promised an increase to $180,000. It is difficult to say whether he will agree with the concept or not.
Mount made the jump from the Chelsea junior divisions to the first squad in 2019. Since then, he has played in 192 games across all competitions, scoring 33 goals and dishing out 37 assists. This season, the England international with 36 caps has participated in 32 of the team’s 35 games across all competitions. He has contributed five goals and five assists while playing in those 32 games. He is an essential component of the group.
Instead of signing Bellingham, United could go for Mason Mount
According to Steinberg, Manchester United has a strong interest in Jude Bellingham of Borussia Dortmund; however, Mount is a “more affordable” alternative. The 24-year-old demonstrated his ability at yielding up possession and generating opportunities for his teammates by producing 30 chances, making 32 challenges, and scoring five goals over the course of 23 league games.
It is possible that Bellingham will cost more than one hundred million pounds, whereas Mount could be purchased for fifty million pounds. In order to remain in compliance with Financial Fair Play, Chelsea is required to recover a portion of the $542 million that it spent on new players during the most recent two transfer periods.

The club’s owner, Todd Boehly, is said to have been opposed to Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger departing on free transfers after their contracts had elapsed. If the team is unable to ensure Mount’s dedication with a contract extension beyond 2024, Boehly will want compensation.
Despite this, it is still unclear whether or not United will submit a proposal for Mount. They are interested in Bellingham, but the price is a problem for them. It seems probable that Sabitzer will join the team on a permanent basis in the immediate future. As a result of Eriksen’s success under Ten Hag’s tutelage, the Red Devils now have at least two playmakers. They are eligible to continue over into the subsequent season.
