Liverpool bought a bench warmer – Jamie Carragher on Liverpool signing Cody Gakpo

Jamie Carragher, who played for Liverpool for many years, was surprised that the team decided to buy Cody Gakpo from Ajax during the January transfer window.
The former England defender says he doesn’t know why his old team bought the Dutch international, since he doesn’t seem like the kind of player Jurgen Klopp usually looks for.
Carragher says that the World Cup’s breakout star will be on the bench when all of the other Liverpool attackers have fully recovered from their injuries.
Gakpo, who is 23 years old, moved from Dutch champions Ajax to Liverpool in January for a fee that could go up to ÂŁ45 million if there are add-ons.
Carragher was quoted in The Telegraph as saying, “I don’t understand Gakpo’s early moves.”
Gakpo is not a typical player that Klopp would sign because he is not very fast and can’t lead a high press.
Why spend up to ÂŁ45 million on a replacement for Diaz and Diogo Jota if they are both fit again? He added.
