Chelsea have already seen a replacement for Marc Cucurella

Chelsea had the chance to find a quick replacement for the Spaniard since Marc Cucurella’s play keeps getting worse under Graham Potter’s guidance. He was booed off the field after a lacklustre performance with the ball against West Ham when he couldn’t get the best out of Mykhailo Mudryk. He has always been the main focus of questions about Potter.

“They are real people with their own lives and problems. After the 0-0 draw with the Hammers on Saturday, he said that Marc is not the only one. At the same time, you know that people pay to watch and that what happens on the field for the whole game is what really matters. Even though this is the case, players still have to get past a number of obstacles.

“As usual, Marc is working, and everything is fine. He is aware that he is not playing at his best right now, but he is also aware that he is not the only player having trouble. Since the club put money into him during the summer, it is our job to help him, support him, and get him to a place where he can show off his skills to everyone.

Since his dramatic and explosive debut against Everton last season, there hasn’t been much of the good fullback on the south coast. He only played a few minutes against Everton in his first Premier League game. Lewis Hall, who is 16 years old, has been used more often lately, but Cucurella was chosen to play at the London Stadium.

Ben Chilwell’s long-awaited recovery is going slowly, so Cucurella is under pressure to find a place in the team. This is because both Cucurella and Ben Chilwell want the same spot. The Englishman is definitely Potter’s third choice, but if Chilwell is healthy enough to play Wednesday night against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League, Potter will have to start him.

Not only did people think Cucurella was bad at defence, but he also gave Vladimir Coufal too much room to move, which let Emerson Palmieri tie the game. Even though Joao Felix and Enzo Fernandez were talking a lot in the forward zones, Mudryk was left on the left side by himself. His bad performance was because he didn’t believe in himself and was slow when he had the ball.

It has raised serious questions about both his long-term place in the team and the 62 million pound transfer fee that was paid for him. At the 90-minute mark, there were rumours that a good replacement would be available, which made it seem likely that Chelsea would quit.

After a surprising loan move to Bayern Munich in January, Joao Cancelo doesn’t seem to have any more options at Manchester City. Pep Guardiola didn’t use the Portugal fullback much during the World Cup, so he let him go. Julien Nagelsmann’s team was glad to be able to hire him.

According to reports, the German champions are not willing to pay the 61 million pound to buy option in the contract, but they would be interested in a permanent deal for less than that amount. Because of this, Chelsea might be able to join the plan to solve their problem with Cucurella and Chilwell. City almost signed Cucurella over the summer, when they were looking for a new left-sided defender.

Because of this, they won’t have enough players for the second half of the season, and there have been rumours that Chilwell will go to the Etihad Stadium. Chilwell is still the best choice when he is healthy, and it is unlikely that he will leave Stamford Bridge any time soon. However, if Cancelo decides to go the other way, Chelsea has some options if they want to go after it.
