Chelsea can hijack Man Utd target Denzel Dumfries as they did to Mudryk

Manchester United is the most recent team to be linked to a possible deal for Denzel Dumfries. This suggests that the Blues may have to fight again in January.
After Reece James got hurt on boxing day, Chelsea will be on the lookout for any right-back opportunities that come up during the January transfer window. James had to leave his first game back, against Bournemouth, just after halftime because he hurt his knee again.
Even though James is likely to be back on the pitch by the end of January, the Blues will be much more careful to ease him back into competitive football. Chelsea has asked about a number of possible replacements for James during the winter transfer window. This is because of the plan for his recovery and the fact that he is missed a lot at full-back.
Several right-backs have been linked to a move to Stamford Bridge, including Josip Juranovic, Nahuel Molina, Pedro Porro, and Denzel Dumfries. The last two names on this list have also been linked to Tottenham, which is also looking for a right-back.

Sporting CP sets a €45 million (£39.9 million) release clause for Porro’s contract so there won’t be a clear transfer battle or controversy. Since another English team is interested in the Dutchman, there are a number of things that could make Dumfries stay at Inter, be sold at a discount, or move to the Premier League and join the highest bidder.
TuttoMercatoWeb says that Manchester United has said they want to buy Dumfries, which would seem to put them ahead of Chelsea in the race to get him. But Inter has not yet officially received a propsal for Dumfries. Aaron Wan-Bissaka is the only natural choice for Erik ten Hag at right back right now. Diogo Dalot’s recent injury, on the other hand, could make Erik ten Hag feel like he needs to find a new right back.
