Nasser Al-Khelaifi’s aim is to win the Champions League

Al-Khelaifi has been the owner of PSG since 2011, and he has made it clear that he wants to win the Champions League. In order to do that, he has fired three coaches: Laurent Blanc, Unai Emery, and Thomas Tuchel. The most recent coach to be fired is Mauricio Pochettino, who was only at the club for a year and a half. While he was there, he won three of the eight titles he entered.

The most recent coach to be fired by Al-Khelaifi was Mauricio Pochettino, who was let go after only one season. His dismissal ended up costing PSG €10 million, which is €10 million less than what was expected because one year was taken off his contract.

The common thread between all three coaches is that they were all dismissed before the end of their contracts. In fact, PSG has a history of firing coaches before their contracts are up. In the last four years, three of the four coaches of the Ligue 1 team have left PSG before the end of their contracts.

The reason for this is Al-Khelaifi’s stated goal of winning the Champions League. PSG has never won Europe’s top club competition, and Al-Khelaifi is desperate to change that. In order to do so, he has been willing to make a change in the coaching staff, even if it means paying a hefty buyout fee.

There is no guarantee that Al-Khelaifi’s latest coaching change will result in success. However, one thing is certain: Al-Khelaifi is not afraid to make a change in order to try and win the Champions League.

Al-Khelaifi fired Laurent Blanc, Unai Emery, and Thomas Tuchel

The first coach Al-Khelaifi fired was Laurent Blanc in 2017. Blanc had led PSG to three consecutive Ligue 1 titles, but Al-Khelaifi was not satisfied with the team’s performance in the Champions League. Laurent Blanc was the first to get a big payout. In 2017, he got €22 million, which was a record amount at the time. This was because he still had two years left on his contract, which PSG had extended the year before.

Al-Khelaifi then hired Unai Emery, who was fresh off leading Sevilla to three consecutive Europa League titles. Emery led PSG to a domestic treble in his first season, but the team once again failed to win the Champions League. Emery, on the other hand, did not get paid when he left Paris because he had stuck to the terms of his two-year contract with the team.

Al-Khelaifi then made the decision to hire Thomas Tuchel in 2018. Tuchel led PSG to another domestic treble in his first season, but the team once again failed to win the Champions League. Tuchel, who joined PSG in 2018, had a contract that ended at the end of 2020 and was replaced by Leonardo. As compensation, he got €7 million.

PSG pays the cost

Despite the high cost of changing coaches, PSG appears to be committed to making the move. They see it as a necessary step in order to get back on track and compete for major titles again.

Because of the search for a new coach, PSG has had to pay “costs.” This change is the result of two things: first, the Parisians paid €10 million to get out of Pochettino’s contract, and second, they hired Galtier. The former coach from Nice costs five million euros to get to the French capital. This brings the total cost of the transaction for the French capital club to fifteen million euros.

Only time will tell if this investment pays off, but the early signs are encouraging. only time will tell if this was the right move for PSG, but they are definitely committed to making it work.
