The deal was supposed to last a while, but the final details needed to complete the transfer of the former Chelsea defender were missing. The 29-year-old defender will travel to La Liga and meet with his countrymate, Toni Kroos, a German attacking midfielder.


In a press release, the Spanish club announced the arrival of the German defender on social media. The transfer was worth 60 million euros.
