Paris Saint-Germain announced the departure of striker Angel Di Maria on the eve of their final match of the season against Metz. The 34-year-old offensive midfielder, who arrived for 63 million euros from Manchester United in August 2015, has a contract that runs out on June 30. The new French champion chose to say farewell to him rather than giving him the final year of his contract with Paris SG, where he intended to complete his European career.

“PSG would like to say a big thank you to Angel Di Maria and his seven years in the Paris Saint-German jersey. “The Argentine won 18 titles and established himself as the club’s finest passer,” PSG noted on its official website. During parting, the Parisian president addressed the football star with a few words after praising him for everything he did while in the club.
Angel Di Maria scored 91 goals and 111 assists in 294 games across all competitions during his seven seasons at Paris Saint-Germain. The Rosario native won 18 titles and surpassed Safet Susic as the best passer in the capital club’s history. As a result, when his resignation was announced, he was honored by Nasser Al-Khelaifi, his president.
“Angel Di Maria has left an indelible stamp on the club’s history. Fans will remember him as a player with a sharp mind who was dedicated to defending our club at any cost.” On the club’s official website, Al-Khelaifi remarked, “I am setting an appointment with the entire Paris Saint-Germain family tomorrow at the Parc des Princes to pay him the honor he deserves.”
